PTA Reminds International Travelers to Register Mobile Devices and Pay FBR Taxes

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a reminder to international travelers bringing mobile devices into Pakistan to comply with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) tax regulations for device registration under the Device Identification, Registration, and Blocking System (DIRBS).

In an official statement, PTA highlighted that to facilitate short-term visitors, a temporary registration option is available. However, travelers planning to stay beyond 120 days or requiring continuous mobile network access must formally register their devices and pay the applicable taxes set by FBR.

“International travelers are strongly encouraged to complete device registration through DIRBS and promptly fulfill their FBR tax obligations to avoid service interruptions,” the statement emphasized.

PTA clarified that these taxes are imposed and collected solely by FBR. Compliance with these regulations ensures uninterrupted access to local mobile networks while aligning with national policies.

The authority reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a transparent and efficient telecommunications ecosystem while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
