Apple’s long-anticipated foldable iPhone, commonly referred to as the iPhone Fold, is expected to launch next year, though some reports suggest a 2027 release. A recent leak provides new insights into the device’s battery capacity, a critical component for powering its dual displays.
The iPhone Fold is rumored to include a battery larger than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. For reference, the iPhone 17 Pro Max has a 4,823mAh battery, while its eSIM-only variant uses 5,088mAh. The latest report indicates that Apple is testing foldable prototypes with battery capacities between 5,400mAh and 5,800mAh.
Earlier, Apple’s iPhone Air prototypes had a smaller 3,000mAh battery, which was upgraded in the final version. A similar enhancement could occur with the iPhone Fold, potentially pushing the battery size close to 6,000mAh.
The foldable device is expected to feature a 7.58-inch inner display and a 5.38-inch outer display. With two screens to power, a significantly larger battery will be necessary to meet the foldable’s higher energy requirements and ensure smooth performance.
