The Baghdad embassy attack has raised fresh security concerns after missile strikes hit the U.S. Embassy compound in Iraq’s capital on Saturday. The incident occurred as tensions escalated in the Middle East following U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s strategic Kharg Island, a key hub for the country’s oil exports.

According to Iraqi security officials, a missile struck inside the heavily fortified Green Zone where the U.S. Embassy is located. Smoke was seen rising from the area shortly after the explosion, triggering heightened security across Baghdad.

The attack came shortly after the United States launched airstrikes on Iran’s Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf. The island is considered one of Iran’s most important oil export terminals and a critical part of the country’s energy infrastructure.

Officials said the strikes targeted military installations and defense systems on the island. Iranian media reported multiple explosions and rising smoke from several sites following the bombardment.

Analysts warn that attacks on diplomatic missions and strategic infrastructure could further escalate the conflict and increase instability across the region, raising fears of wider confrontation in the Middle East.
