Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jets intercepted and destroyed two suspected kamikaze drones over Islamabad, triggering a major security alert in the federal capital.
According to initial reports, the drones were detected flying toward sensitive areas near Hamza Camp and Sector I-8. After the threat was identified, PAF F-16 fighter jets were scrambled immediately and successfully shot down both drones before they could reach their targets.
Officials said the drones were neutralized using the M61A1 Vulcan cannon mounted on the F-16 aircraft, preventing what could have been a serious security incident in the capital.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing fighter jets flying at low altitude across Islamabad as the interception took place. Following the incident, security forces were placed on high alert and aerial patrols continued over the city to ensure no additional threats remained.

Preliminary images from the wreckage suggest the drones may resemble loitering munitions often used by militant groups, leading to speculation that the attack attempt could be linked to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). However, authorities have not officially confirmed the origin or the group responsible.
Officials are currently investigating whether the drones were launched from inside Pakistan or across the Afghan border. So far, there are no reports of casualties or damage, as both drones were destroyed before reaching populated areas.
