The 69th Ballon d’Or ceremony will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. This prestigious event, organized by UEFA and Groupe Amaury — the parent company of France Football and L’Équipe — is considered the most esteemed individual award in football.

First awarded in 1956, the Ballon d’Or honors the best male footballer annually. The current holder is Rodri of Manchester City and Spain. In recent years, the awards have grown to include women’s football and other categories, with Spain and Barcelona star Aitana Bonmatí holding the latest women’s Ballon d’Or.

This year’s ceremony will set a new record by presenting 14 different awards across both men’s and women’s categories:

  • Ballon d’Or (Men and Women) – Best player in the world
  • Kopa Trophy (Men and Women) – Best young player (under 21)
  • Yashin Trophy (Men and Women) – Best goalkeeper
  • Gerd Müller Trophy (Men and Women) – Top goal scorer
  • Johan Cruyff Trophy (Men and Women) – Best coach
  • Club of the Year (Men and Women) – Most successful club
  • Sócrates Award – For outstanding social and charity work by a footballer

This marks the first time many of these awards will have separate men’s and women’s categories, reflecting a strong push for gender equality in the sport.

Nominees will be announced in early August. Early favorites for the Men’s Ballon d’Or include Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal, while Aitana Bonmatí and Alexia Putellas are top contenders on the women’s side.

As always, fans worldwide will be eagerly anticipating the winners of football’s most prestigious honors.
