The National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), with support from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), has issued a public advisory to debunk false rumors circulating on social media about ATM outages and disruptions to online banking services across the country.

Authorities have confirmed that these claims are baseless. All banking infrastructure, including ATMs and digital services, continues to function normally and without interruption. The advisory stressed that no credible cyber threats have been detected, and the financial system remains stable and secure.

The CERT advisory urges the public to rely only on official sources for updates and to disregard misinformation spread through unofficial channels. Banks’ cybersecurity teams are actively monitoring systems to ensure continued safety.

Additionally, the public has been reminded to follow essential security practices: avoid sharing PINs or OTPs, inspect ATMs for tampering, log out from online sessions properly, and avoid clicking suspicious links. Any suspected fraud or cyber activity should be reported immediately via bank helplines or official CERT reporting mechanisms.
