Chicken prices in Lahore have experienced dramatic fluctuations, now soaring to as high as Rs630 per kilogram. This sharp increase has caused significant distress among the public and created challenges for shopkeepers, who are facing a downturn in sales. Chicken, once a budget-friendly meat option, is now priced similarly to mutton and beef, making it increasingly unaffordable for many, especially those on fixed incomes.

The surge in prices, which used to be around Rs350 per kilogram, has sparked frustration among the populace. Many people are voicing their dissatisfaction with the authorities, accusing them of failing to implement even basic measures to control the situation. Shopkeepers are also struggling, as their sales have been severely impacted by the erratic pricing, making it difficult to negotiate with poultry farm agents.

The rise in feed costs has led to increased prices for chicks, which in turn affects the overall price of chicken. Currently, chicken is being sold at up to Rs630 per kilogram in Lahore’s markets. The public is urging the government to take action to regulate the prices of essential food items, including chicken, in order to ease their financial burden.
