The next UAE public holiday is just around the corner, and anticipation is building for the upcoming Eid Al Adha break.
Eid Al Adha, along with Arafat Day, is expected to give residents a four-day weekend in June. However, the exact dates are not confirmed until closer to the time due to the Islamic Hijri calendar, which follows lunar cycles. Each Hijri month lasts either 29 or 30 days, depending on moon sightings.
Unlike Eid Al Fitr, Eid Al Adha does not fall on the first day of the Islamic month. It starts on Dhu Al Hijjah 9 with Arafat Day and continues through Dhu Al Hijjah 10, 11, and 12.

Currently, the month of Dhu Al Qa’dah began on Tuesday, April 29. If this month lasts 29 days, Dhu Al Hijjah will start on Wednesday, May 28, and the Eid break will begin on Thursday, June 5, ending Sunday, June 8.
If Dhu Al Qa’dah is 30 days long, then Dhu Al Hijjah will begin on Thursday, May 29, and the Eid holiday will start on Friday, June 6, continuing through Monday, June 9.
Final confirmation will come closer to the date, once the new moon is sighted.
