The Finance Division has reconstituted a four-member committee to interview shortlisted candidates for the position of Commissioner at the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). The committee will be led by State Minister for Finance and Revenue Ali Pervaiz.

According to the Finance Division’s latest office order, which supersedes the previous order dated May 19, 2023, the new Selection Committee will include the Secretary of the Finance Division, Ehsan Malik, CEO of the Pakistan Business Council, and Akif Saeed, Chairman of SECP and domain expert. This committee is tasked with evaluating candidates and recommending a panel of at least three individuals for the Federal Government’s approval for the Commissioner SECP position, as stipulated in Section 5 of the SECP Act 1997.
The SECP Commissioner role has been vacant for several months, and the Ministry of Finance had previously advertised the position.
