According to a private news channel, the Punjab government has made significant strides in its solarization initiative, with the comprehensive plan for distributing free solar systems now finalized.

The project will be implemented in stages, beginning with the pilot phase approved by the Chief Minister of Punjab. This initial phase will offer solar systems at no cost to households consuming up to 200 units of electricity. Rajanpur and Attock districts have been selected for the first rollout, which is set to begin in October. The government intends to distribute solar systems valued at 30 billion rupees under this scheme.

In the second phase, the solar systems will be extended to less developed districts throughout Punjab. Households using up to 200 units of electricity will receive the systems for free, while those consuming up to 500 units will be eligible for interest-free loans for solar panel installation.

Consumers will receive their solar panels on a five-year installment plan, with lower payments during the winter months when solar energy production is lower.
