Following the tragic incident at Data Darbar, the government has ordered a comprehensive investigation and announced plans for a sweeping legal overhaul to prevent future animal-related disasters in public and religious spaces.

Authorities have confirmed they will review safety protocols, animal control regulations, and crowd-management measures. The inquiry aims to identify the causes of the tragedy and hold responsible parties — from organizers to regulatory agencies — accountable for any lapses.

Under the proposed reforms, new rules will be drafted to regulate presence of animals at public gatherings, enforce strict safety standards, mandate veterinary checks, and control unauthorized animal entry. The government says these legal changes are necessary to avoid recurrence and protect public safety.

Officials have urged all event organizers, religious institutions, and public-venue managers to comply with the revised regulations once formalised. The inquiry findings and draft amendments are expected to be presented to the cabinet soon.
