The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a significant shift in weather conditions, with rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms likely to affect various parts of the country. The latest outlook indicates that moist currents entering from the Arabian Sea, combined with atmospheric instability, will trigger rainfall activity across northern, central, and northeastern regions.

According to meteorologists, several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and parts of Balochistan are expected to receive rainfall accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms. Isolated locations may also experience heavy downpours and hailstorms.

Regions Likely to Receive Rainfall

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain and thunderstorms are expected in districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, and surrounding areas. Weather experts have warned that localized heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding in vulnerable locations.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir is also likely to receive widespread rainfall. Areas such as Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Bagh, Haveli, Kotli, and Mirpur are expected to witness thunderstorm activity, with isolated heavy falls possible in some regions.

Gilgit-Baltistan is forecast to experience intermittent rain and thunderstorms in districts including Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Diamer, Ghizer, Ghanche, and Shigar. Authorities have advised travelers and tourists to stay informed about weather conditions before undertaking journeys in mountainous areas.

Sindh and Balochistan Also Under Weather Watch

The weather system is not limited to northern Pakistan. Parts of upper Sindh, including Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Kashmore, and Ghotki, may experience dust storms and thunderstorms. Similar weather conditions are expected in northeastern Balochistan, particularly in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Chaman, Qila Abdullah, and surrounding districts.

Meteorologists believe the approaching weather activity could help moderate temperatures in some areas that have been experiencing intense heat over recent days. However, strong winds and lightning remain potential hazards, especially in exposed and low-lying regions.

Relief from Heatwave Conditions

The rainfall forecast comes at a time when large parts of Pakistan have been facing heatwave conditions. The PMD recently warned that temperatures in several regions would remain significantly above normal between June 7 and June 12. The arrival of thunderstorms and rain may provide temporary relief, particularly in northern and central areas.

Authorities Issue Precautionary Advice

Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution during thunderstorms, avoid unnecessary travel in adverse weather, and stay away from electric poles, trees, and weak structures during strong winds. Farmers, travelers, and residents in flood-prone areas have also been advised to remain updated through official weather bulletins.

With monsoon activity gradually approaching South Asia and weather systems becoming more active across the region, experts expect fluctuating weather conditions to continue in the coming weeks. Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts closely and take preventive measures to ensure safety during periods of severe weather.
