The Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE) has abruptly postponed the intermediate examinations by three weeks, just a day before they were set to begin, citing “unavoidable reasons.” A statement from the board’s chairman confirmed the delay, but did not specify a new date.
However, media reports suggest that the real cause behind the postponement is a boycott by teachers, which has severely disrupted exam arrangements. The refusal of teaching staff to carry out examination duties has left the board in a crisis, with no immediate solution in place. As of now, a revised schedule has not been announced, leaving students in limbo.

Meanwhile, in Karachi, the Board of Intermediate Education has also deferred intermediate exams, now set to begin after May 6, 2025. The delay has been linked to the non-availability of the board chairman and the lack of examination halls, which are still in use for ongoing matriculation exams until May 2.
Additional complications include the pending approval of nearly 300 examination centers, incomplete scrutiny of over 27,000 forms, and delays in tabulation work due to administrative bottlenecks. Furthermore, no formal notification has been issued regarding additional marks.
Students in both Balochistan and Sindh are facing increasing uncertainty as they await clear communication and new schedules, with preparations on hold and academic timelines disrupted.
