The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a restraining order, stopping the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) from releasing the final merit list for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT). This action follows petitions filed by students who raised concerns over alleged errors in the exam. According to the students, 30 out of 200 questions were incorrect, potentially jeopardizing their chances of securing admission.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir handed down the order on Thursday, temporarily halting the PMDC’s merit list release until the issue is resolved. The students also requested that medical colleges delay their admissions process.
The IHC has directed all relevant parties, including the PMDC, to respond by October 28. This ruling follows a similar order from the Sindh High Court, which previously halted the merit list’s release due to complaints of irregularities in the MDCAT. The Sindh court established a committee to investigate the allegations within 15 days, with the authority to determine any civil or criminal liabilities.
