Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) has suspended a senior official following accusations of harassment by a student. The action was taken after a series of protests erupted on campus, with students expressing dissatisfaction over the administration’s response to harassment complaints.

Protesters gathered outside the vice chancellor’s office, demanding accountability for the male staff accused of harassing students. Holding banners and placards, the students chanted slogans condemning the university administration for its delayed handling of the issue. The administration acted after a formal complaint was submitted by a student, leading to an inquiry and the official’s suspension to ensure a fair investigation.

A university spokesperson stated that the suspension was necessary for a transparent investigation. A special committee has been established to thoroughly examine the harassment claims and deliver an impartial decision. Despite the administration’s actions, student protests are expected to continue, with a larger demonstration planned for Tuesday. To address the unrest, the university has declared a local holiday, officially citing ongoing construction work, though many suspect it is a strategy to control the situation.
