The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new digital service enabling citizens to register births and deaths through the Pak ID mobile application.
Initially launched in the union councils of Jhelum, Chakwal, and Nankana Sahib in Punjab, the facility was prioritized in these districts due to disruptions caused by recent floods. With this service, residents can now complete registrations online, eliminating the need for repeated visits to union council offices. Applicants can submit forms, upload documents, and track progress directly through the app.
NADRA officials confirmed that the initiative will soon be expanded nationwide in collaboration with local administrations. Preparations are already in progress in other provinces, with the goal of extending the service once administrative arrangements are finalized.

This development is part of NADRA’s broader strategy to digitize citizen services and minimize paperwork. By moving registrations online, citizens gain:
-
Convenience: No need for physical visits to government offices.
-
Accessibility: Easier access for communities in flood-affected or rural areas.
-
Efficiency: Faster processing and reduced delays compared to manual systems.
-
Transparency: Centralized digital records improve accuracy in population data.
NADRA’s digital initiative represents a significant step toward modernizing public services in Pakistan while ensuring greater convenience and transparency for citizens.
