Over 727,000 Pakistanis Secured Overseas Jobs in 2024

According to the Economic Survey 2024-25, a total of 727,381 Pakistanis went abroad for employment during the year 2024, reflecting the country’s continued dependence on international job markets.

The report underscores that the Middle East remained the top destination for Pakistani workers. Saudi Arabia led the way, employing 452,562 individuals—over 62% of the total migrant workforce.

Oman followed with 11% of the workers, while the United Arab Emirates (UAE) hired 64,130 Pakistanis, making up 9% of the total. Qatar also emerged as a key destination, offering jobs to 40,818 individuals or 6% of the overseas labor.

Other countries that absorbed significant numbers of Pakistani workers included Bahrain, which employed 25,198, and Malaysia, which offered employment to 5,790 individuals.

This continued trend of labor migration highlights the role of overseas employment in supporting Pakistan’s economy through remittances and reducing domestic job pressure.
