Remittances from overseas Pakistanis reached $3.7 billion in May 2025, marking a 16% year-on-year (YoY) increase, according to the latest figures released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The monthly inflow also recorded a 13.7% rise compared to the same month last year.

The significant boost in remittances was largely attributed to increased financial transfers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. May 2025 now stands as the second-highest month for remittances in Pakistan’s history, trailing only behind March 2025, which recorded $4.2 billion in inflows.

The cumulative remittances for the first eleven months of FY2024–25 (11MFY25) surged to a record $34.9 billion, representing a 28.8% increase over the $27.1 billion received during the same period in FY2023–24 (11MFY24).

The consistent rise in remittances continues to play a critical role in supporting Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves and stabilizing the economy.
