Pakistan achieved a notable diplomatic and academic triumph after the Indian delegation unexpectedly withdrew from a verified debate at the Oxford Union, the Pakistan High Commission in London announced on Friday.

According to Radio Pakistan, the debate proceeded without opposition, with Pakistan represented by Gen (retd) Zubair Hayat, former State Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, and former ambassador Dr. Muhammad Faisal. Despite a sizeable presence of Indian students at the venue, the Indian team did not appear at the scheduled time.

The High Commission stated that India chose to avoid the debate rather than challenge Pakistan’s stance, exposing what it described as the “weakness of India’s narrative” on an impartial international stage. Officials added that, while Indian political figures regularly participate in televised debates, they appeared reluctant to face “structured international questioning.”

They further noted that the Indian delegation attempted to disrupt the event in advance to avoid potential embarrassment, but their absence ultimately resulted in a public display of evasion. The High Commission hailed the outcome as a “clear and symbolic victory,” underscoring Pakistan’s intellectual and diplomatic strength.
