Pakistan’s Power Generation Rises 8% in August 2025
Pakistan produced 14,218 GWh of electricity in August 2025, reflecting an 8% year-on-year increase from 13,180 GWh in August 2024, signaling stronger demand and improved economic activity. On a monthly basis, output was up 1% compared to 14,123 GWh in July.
For the first two months of FY26, cumulative generation stood at 28,341 GWh, slightly higher than 28,060 GWh in the same period last year. Analysts noted that the rise in August was largely supported by hotter weather and a significant increase in coal-based power dispatch.
