The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has issued a notice to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), demanding a reply within 14 days in a writ petition challenging the blocking of CNICs for an entire family and NADRA’s refusal to issue Form-B for their children.

A bench comprising Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice Waqar Ahmad heard the petition filed by Taj Bibi and her family. Advocate Malik Shehbaz Khan, representing the petitioners, told the court that Taj Bibi and her four children are Pakistani citizens.

He revealed that when her son, Muhammad Ullah, applied for a CNIC, he was initially denied because his father, Sher Rehman’s CNIC, had been blocked. Although Sher Rehman’s CNIC was later reactivated, allowing Muhammad Ullah to receive his ID card in 2018, the family faced a renewed issue.

Recently, when Taj Bibi applied to renew her CNIC, she was informed that not only had her husband’s CNIC been blocked again, but the entire family’s identity cards were now invalid.
