The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is set to launch a critical round of meetings starting April 9, with nine Long Distance International (LDI) operators who collectively owe Rs. 78 billion in unpaid dues. This includes Rs. 24 billion in principal amounts and Rs. 54 billion in late payment penalties.
License Renewals or Cancellations on the Table
These meetings aim to assess whether the licenses of these defaulting telecom companies should be renewed or revoked. Each operator has been summoned individually to present their case to the PTA. The sessions will be held at PTA Headquarters, chaired by PTA Chairman Major General (retd) Hafeez-ur-Rehman, with participation from senior PTA officials and a Ministry of IT representative.

PTA has warned that any company failing to appear on its designated date will have its case reviewed based on available documentation. Final decisions on license status will be made after all meetings conclude.
