The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has initiated a compelling social media campaign, highlighting the abduction of 10 social media activists and their relatives. The campaign aims to draw the attention of superior courts to these abductions.
Focus on Abductions: A Cry for Judicial Support
The campaign’s central focus is on the enforced disappearance of PTI’s international media coordinator Ahmed Waqas Janjua, who was taken from his Islamabad residence on Saturday. PTI has also shared CCTV footage of Janjua’s abduction by police and individuals in plain clothes.
“The judiciary must act to prevent Pakistan from descending into lawlessness,” PTI tweeted from its official X account.

The list of abducted individuals includes:
- Ahmed Waqas Janjua, International Media Coordinator
- Malik Rizwan Ahmad, PTI Coordinator, and his brother Malik Nauman Ahmad
- Social media activists Attaur Rehman, Farid Malik, Malik Faizan, and Mudasar Chaudhry
- Ghulam Shabbir, brother of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill
- Zahoor Mashwani and Mazhar Mashwani, brothers of social media activist Azhar Mashwani

Legal Action and Statements from PTI Leaders
Hammad Azhar, PTI’s Punjab General Secretary, announced the formation of a senior lawyer panel to address these enforced disappearances. He criticized the current regime’s undemocratic actions and urged the release of the abducted activists.
“There is no point in punishing our social media activists. Release them,” Azhar demanded.
PTI leader Syed Zulfi Bukhari also condemned the abductions, noting that Janjua and three other social media activists were taken early Saturday morning.
“Our social media team has been reporting international atrocities in Pakistan, and now my team is being targeted. This erosion of basic human rights cannot continue,” Bukhari stated.
