The Punjab Finance Department has approved 26,898 new positions across 1,961 upgraded and newly built public schools, replacing 43,960 abolished posts from previously outsourced schools. As per the May 16, 2025 notification, no new recruitment will be made. Instead, existing staff will be reallocated based on the Student-Teacher Ratio and availability in overstaffed or closed schools. This move will not impose any extra financial burden on the provincial budget.

Breakdown of approved posts includes:

  • New Schools: 47 primary (423 posts), 1 elementary (19), 5 high (135).

  • School-Based Cadre (SBC): 1,181 schools (14,172 posts).

  • Upgraded Schools (ADP & SBC): 375 primary-to-elementary (5,250), 245 elementary-to-high (2,940), and 107 high-to-higher secondary (3,959).
