The Punjab Wildlife Department successfully rescued six lions stranded by rising floodwaters at a farmhouse near the Ravi River. The operation was carried out under the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and supervised by Wildlife Secretary Mudassir Riaz Malik.

Despite challenging conditions caused by torrential rains, rescue teams used four boats with the support of veterinary doctors to safely evacuate the animals. The lions have been shifted to a secure facility where they are receiving medical care and round-the-clock monitoring.

Officials confirmed that no human lives were endangered during the operation, even as floods continue to devastate villages and farmland across Punjab.

Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb praised the wildlife teams for their bravery, emphasizing that protecting endangered species is a top priority for the Punjab government.
