The provincial education minister of Punjab has announced the upcoming summer vacation schedule for schools and colleges amidst a worsening heatwave. Summer holidays will commence from June 7, 2024, and conclude on August 19, 2024, spanning a period of approximately two months. The Education Department is anticipated to release an official notification regarding these dates in the coming weeks.

Earlier forecasts from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) have predicted extreme temperatures for the region, with June potentially seeing a maximum of 49.5 degrees Celsius, and August expecting highs of 48.63 degrees Celsius. These soaring temperatures have influenced the decision to extend the summer break to ensure the well-being and safety of students and staff during the intense heat.
