Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, has confirmed that the government has no plans to increase salaries or pensions for federal employees in the upcoming fiscal year.

In a written response to the National Assembly, the finance minister clarified that there are no proposals under consideration for revising pay scales or allowances. “There is no proposal under consideration to increase the salaries of government employees in the next fiscal year,” stated Aurangzeb. Additionally, he confirmed that the pension structure for retired federal employees will also remain unchanged.

However, the minister noted that the government is reviewing the limits for hiring and ceiling allowances for employees. The Finance Ministry also indicated that it is considering raising the limit on hiring private houses for government employees.

This announcement comes as disappointing news for government employees who were hoping for salary and pension adjustments to help cope with rising inflation and economic difficulties.
