Last week, a purported render of the Nothing Phone (2a) emerged, credited to @OnLeaks. However, subsequent investigation revealed it depicted an unreleased Nothing smartphone that never materialized.

Initially, Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks, questioned the authenticity of the render, noting its inconsistency with Nothing’s motto, “See the world through fresh eyes” – a reference to the redesigned camera setup expected on the Nothing Phone (2a).

Steve from @OnLeaks also conceded that the render he previously shared for the Nothing Phone (2a) was fake. Blass outlined two reasons for the render’s falsity: firstly, it didn’t adhere to the standard Foxconn-sourced CAD render, thereby challenging Steve’s usual accuracy. Secondly, the render didn’t align with Nothing’s tagline, suggesting a design shift, particularly in the main camera placement.

Blass indicated an expectation for the phone to resemble the render on the right, though these images remain unconfirmed.

As of now, there’s still no official announcement regarding the launch date of the Nothing Phone (2a). However, it’s anticipated to be a budget-friendly device with toned-down specifications compared to the Nothing Phone 2, accompanied by an affordable price tag.
