The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has provided an important update regarding the introduction of newly designed currency notes, confirming that the process has reached an advanced stage and will move forward once final approval is granted by the federal cabinet.
SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad stated that preparations for printing the new banknotes are complete and that the central bank plans to print two to three denominations at the same time after receiving cabinet approval. He added that the redesigned currency series has already been submitted to the government and is currently awaiting formal clearance.

According to the central bank, the new currency notes will be released into circulation gradually, allowing sufficient stock to be built before replacing existing notes. This phased rollout is aimed at ensuring a smooth transition without disrupting cash availability across the country.
Pakistan’s current currency system includes denominations ranging from Rs. 10 to Rs. 5,000. The redesigned notes are expected to feature enhanced security measures and modern designs as part of broader efforts to upgrade the country’s currency system and reduce counterfeiting.
