Iran has called on BRICS member states to formally denounce what it describes as ongoing US and Israeli military aggression against the country, intensifying diplomatic pressure during a high-level multilateral meeting.
Speaking through Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at the BRICS foreign ministers’ gathering, Tehran urged the emerging economies bloc to take a unified stance against recent attacks and what it calls violations of international law. Iran argued that silence from global institutions has encouraged continued escalation in the region.
Araghchi stated that Iran has faced repeated “illegal military actions” over the past months and emphasized that the country would not accept pressure or threats. He reaffirmed Tehran’s position that diplomatic engagement remains possible, but only on the basis of mutual respect and sovereignty.
The remarks come at a time when BRICS members are already divided over how to respond to the wider Middle East conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. Some member states have pushed for neutrality, while others have called for stronger language condemning violence and protecting global stability.

The ongoing tensions have complicated efforts to produce a joint BRICS statement, reflecting deep geopolitical differences within the expanded group, which now includes several Middle Eastern countries alongside major emerging economies.
Iran has consistently maintained that there is “no military solution” to the crisis and continues to seek international support against Western pressure as regional instability grows.
