U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that Washington does not require China’s assistance to bring an end to the ongoing Iran war, despite rising global concerns over instability in the Middle East and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. His remarks came shortly before departing for a high-profile summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

Speaking to reporters before leaving the White House, Trump said the United States would resolve the conflict “peacefully or otherwise,” while insisting that the situation with Iran remained under control. The comments signaled a tougher stance from Washington even as diplomatic efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire continue to struggle.

The Iran conflict has become a major topic overshadowing Trump’s China visit. Tehran’s tightening control over the Strait of Hormuz — a critical shipping route responsible for nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply — has increased pressure on global energy markets and raised fears of prolonged economic instability.

Although the United States has previously encouraged Beijing to use its influence over Tehran, Trump now appears determined to project confidence ahead of talks with Xi Jinping. China remains one of Iran’s most important economic partners and a major buyer of Iranian oil, giving Beijing significant leverage in any future negotiations.

Analysts believe Trump’s remarks are aimed at reinforcing America’s strategic independence while maintaining pressure on Iran during ongoing negotiations. However, experts warn that the unresolved conflict continues to threaten global shipping routes, fuel prices, and broader geopolitical stability.

The ongoing war has already caused sharp increases in oil prices and intensified concerns among shipping companies operating near the Gulf region. International observers fear that prolonged tensions could further damage global trade and economic recovery efforts.

Despite Trump’s firm public stance, discussions surrounding Iran are still expected to be part of his meetings with Xi during the Beijing summit, alongside trade relations, artificial intelligence cooperation, and Taiwan-related tensions.
