WhatsApp has rolled out a new update for iPhone users, now available on the App Store as version 25.35.72. The key highlight of this update is the enhanced About section, which now supports disappearing status messages. The feature is being gradually rolled out, so it may not appear for all users immediately.
The updated About feature allows users to set temporary messages that vanish after a chosen duration. These messages, which can include text, emojis, or short updates, function like disappearing statuses but appear on your profile and inside chats. This makes it easier for contacts to see your availability at a glance.
When viewing a chat, a small bubble under a contact’s profile picture now displays their current About message. Temporary statuses are visible instantly inside chats and in the chat info screen. For example, if a colleague sets “In a meeting” for a few hours, you’ll know they might not respond promptly.

Users can select how long their About message remains visible, with options ranging from a few hours to one month. WhatsApp also shows a countdown for when the status will disappear, keeping profiles up-to-date automatically.
Emoji support has also been added, allowing users to express moods or activities more visually—like a suitcase emoji for traveling or a laptop emoji for working. This upgrade addresses the limitations of the old static About section, which often displayed outdated information.
WhatsApp is gradually expanding this feature, so users are encouraged to keep their app updated to access it as soon as it becomes available.
