Xiaomi is set to expand its EV lineup with the launch of its second electric vehicle, the YU7 SUV, in mid-2025. Following the success of the SU7, the YU7 is designed to compete directly with Tesla’s Model Y and other premium electric SUVs in the growing EV market.

Performance and Powertrain Options

Regulatory filings reveal that the Xiaomi YU7 will come in two powertrain options:

  • Single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD): Equipped with a 315 HP motor, reaching a top speed of 240 km/h.
  • Dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD): Features a 295 HP front motor and a 386 HP rear motor, delivering a combined 681 HP with a top speed of 253 km/h.

Battery and Range Variants

The YU7 offers two battery configurations for different driving ranges:

  • AWD Model: 101.7 kWh battery pack, with CLTC-rated ranges of 670 km, 750 km, or 760 km.
  • RWD Model: 96.3 kWh battery pack, offering 725 km, 810 km, or 820 km.

(Note: CLTC estimates tend to be optimistic, and real-world range may be lower.)

Design and Dimensions

The Xiaomi YU7 is a mid-to-large SUV, positioned between the Tesla Model X and Model Y in terms of size. It measures:

  • Length: 4,999 mm
  • Width: 1,996 mm
  • Height: 1,600 mm
  • Wheelbase: 3,000 mm

Its design is expected to be sleek and modern, incorporating Xiaomi’s signature tech-driven aesthetics and a spacious interior for enhanced comfort.

Advanced Technology and Features

Xiaomi is equipping the YU7 with cutting-edge technology, including:

  • Roof-mounted LiDAR sensor for enhanced safety and autonomous driving.
  • High-tech interior, featuring an ultra-wide infotainment display for a premium driving experience.

Expected Price and Market Position

While official pricing remains unconfirmed, industry estimates suggest a starting price of 250,000 Yuan (approximately $34,700 or Rs. 96 lac), making it a competitive option in the premium EV segment.
