Mobilink Torchbearers, employee volunteers of Mobilink, took the students of JAQ Trust’s Pehli Kiran School System on a fun filled trip to Cinepax, Islamabad. The day was planned around the screening of the recently released animated movie, Angry Birds 3D. The activity was a first for many of the underprivileged children in attendance, as most of these had never experienced a 3D animated movie before.

Speaking about the reason behind this endeavor, Omar Manzur, Head of Corporate Communications – Mobilink, stated, “The Mobilink Foundation and its Torchbearers remain committed to the betterment of education across Pakistan. Throughout the year, we donate huge quantities of art supplies, books, along with ICT equipment to schools for the underprivileged, but this time we wanted to do something different. The trip to the cinema was organized to provide these kids an unforgettable experience as we believe it is pivotal these kids feel part of the society. Our objective is to ensure these kids realize the benefits of a proper education coupled with hard work so they not only feel motivated to change their lives, but also the lives of those around them.”

Torchbearers picked up the students from their campuses, and after a tour of Centaurus mall, they were taken to the cinema for the screening of the movie. The kids were also treated to refreshments throughout the duration of the movie.

The Pehli Kiran School System, a project of JAQ Trust, is unique educational project in that it catering to children from transient communities living on the fringes of major cities. Many of these are working children, who would otherwise not have access to any sort of education.

Mobilink Foundation and its Torchbearer teams have a long standing affinity with Pehli Kiran School System. In the past, the Foundation has reached out to its students through regular on campus visits, donations of school supplies, and refurbishment of old campuses.
