National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) and Telecard Limited signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 15th December 2016 to co-operate on developing business and providing/support of solutions in ICT for Government Sector under Telecom Policy 2015. Managing Director NTC, Brig (Retd) Viqar Rashid Khan and Chief Executive Officer of Telecard Limited, Mr. Shams-ul-Arfeen signed the MoU.

M/s Supernet Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Telecard Limited providing services to customers including satellite, radio and fiber optic based managed WAN services. Mr. Imran Akhter Shah, Advisor Business to Government Supernet /Telecard Ltd expressed his views over the bilateral opportunities in providing complete 360 solutions and Telecom services.  Mr. ShamsulArfeen, CEO Telecard Ltd endorsed thatthis partnership will add value to NTC portfolio as their business partner to provide latest satellite technologies like O3B services, i-Direct service and low cost satellite based broadband services for NTC customers.

Adding his views, Brig (Retd) Viqar Rashid Khan, MD NTC expressed that since inception in 1996, NTC continued to provide the most innovative ICT services to all governmental wings. We, in part, also owe our success to the private sector operators like M/s Telecard and Supernet, because we always look to partner up with these telcos to enhance our capabilities and facilitate our customer base at affordable rates.

While speaking on the occasion, MD NTC briefed the audience that NTC is the first operator to establish the Cloud Based National Data Center in the Public Sector and we are receiving over whelming response from the Government / Public Sector, which shows Public Sector Organizations confidence in NTC.   During the last three years, NTC has carried out massive technical growth to extend latest Telecom /ICT services to its valued customers. As a result of these developments, NTC has completed over 85% of its ADP projects in a record one year. NTC has extended its services from 54 districts/cities to 87 districts / cities including 13 districts in Sindh and 6 districts in Balochistan. Overall Fixed Lines telephone growth observed was 6% despite of decline in its general use which then was growth of over 36% in Broadband. Over 45% network has been shifted from TDM to IP based Next Generation Network NGN). NTC is also pursuing Public / Privatepartnership with Telecom industry to facilitate the customers of the virtues of state of the art technologies and capacity sharing.

NTC has plan to establish submarine cable landing station at Gawadar to provide alternate route to existing network. Likewise NTC is endeavoring for capacity building of its Human Resource and the performance thereof is measured through assigned KPIs. NTC shall INSHAALLAH continue to serve Government / Public Sector through reliable and safe telecom infrastructure to safeguard against cyber threats.
