Pakistan’s hockey team has kept their hopes alive in the Challenger Trophy with a dominant 11-3 victory over Australia in the 9th-12th place match.
Rana Waheed Ashraf, the captain of Pakistan, was the star of the game, scoring five crucial goals that played a pivotal role in the team’s triumph over Australia. Ghazanfar Ali and Zikria Hayat contributed with two goals each, while Arshad Liaqat and Murtaza Yaqoob also added one goal each to the scoreboard.

Despite Australia’s efforts, they couldn’t exert much pressure on the Pakistani team, managing to score only three goals.
Unfortunately, Pakistan’s dreams of reaching the quarter-finals in the Hockey5s World Cup were shattered on Monday, as they suffered an 8-7 defeat against Poland. The Green Shirts needed just a draw against Poland in Pool A to secure a spot in the quarter-finals, but they couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity.
In Sunday’s matches, Pakistan started their campaign strongly by defeating Nigeria 11-5, but later faced a setback with a 5-3 loss against the Netherlands.
Looking ahead, Pakistan is set to compete in the 9th-10th place match, where they will face the winner of the Switzerland vs. New Zealand match. The victorious team in this encounter will claim the Challenger Trophy.
