The social media giant X, formerly known as Twitter, has remained inaccessible in Pakistan for the past two weeks, despite court orders. Now, the Islamabad High Court has issued notices to the Information Ministry and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to inquire about the outage.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court addressed a plea against the closure of the microblogging platform, questioning why a social site used by millions is closed in Pakistan.

The Chief Justice inquired about the status of a similar matter in the Sindh High Court (SHC), where a petition had been filed earlier. The SHC had ordered authorities in Karachi, the provincial court, to restore services immediately.
The counsel informed the IHC Chief Justice that a petition related to contempt of court would be heard.
Subsequently, the judge ordered the issuance of notices to the Chief Justice and stated that the matter would be heard next week.
