Pakistan has acknowledged carrying out operations in Afghanistan but refuted claims of civilian casualties. In a statement released by the Foreign Office, spokesperson Zahra Baloch emphasized that Pakistan’s actions targeted a terror group within Afghanistan’s borders and did not intend harm to Afghan civilians. Evidence was presented regarding militants involved in cross-border attacks.
The operations were intelligence-driven anti-terrorism efforts conducted in response to reports of airstrikes by Kabul, which resulted in the deaths of eight individuals. The primary focus of the operation was on dismantling terrorists linked to the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group. The Foreign Office highlighted the group’s association with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and their responsibility for numerous terrorist attacks within Pakistan, leading to the loss of civilian and law enforcement lives.
