Pakistani Rupee Weakens Against Major Currencies, Closes at 281.91/USD

The Pakistani rupee (PKR) ended Tuesday’s trading session in the red, registering losses against the US Dollar (USD), British Pound (GBP), and most other major global currencies.

Throughout the day, the interbank rate hovered between 282 and 283 per dollar before finally settling at 281.91. In the open market, the rupee remained steady at around the 283 level across various currency exchange counters.

The local currency depreciated by 0.05 percent on a day-on-day (DoD) basis, losing 15 paisas against the USD. Since the beginning of the current fiscal year, the rupee has declined by 1.29 percent against the greenback.

Performance Against Other Currencies:

  • Lost 4 paisas against the UAE Dirham (AED)

  • Lost 4 paisas against the Saudi Riyal (SAR)

  • Declined by 34 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD)

  • Gained 8 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD)

The continued depreciation reflects ongoing pressure on the PKR amid fluctuating foreign exchange reserves and global economic conditions.
