The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025 have been unveiled, highlighting the world’s most sustainability-driven universities based on their contributions to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s rankings assessed 2,526 universities from 130 countries and territories, with Pakistan making a strong presence through 120 institutions, reflecting the country’s growing emphasis on sustainable development in higher education.
Among the standout performers, the University of Lahore achieved a remarkable feat by securing a spot in the 101–200 bracket, making it the highest-ranked Pakistani university in this year’s global sustainability rankings.

A key observation from the 2025 rankings is the rapid advancement of East and Southeast Asian universities, which are accelerating their performance across sustainability criteria. Pakistan’s performance, however, signals that South Asia is not far behind in striving for impactful educational reforms and development contributions.
