Starting July 1, the federal government is expected to raise fixed charges for domestic gas consumers, pending final approval from the federal cabinet.
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved a proposal to maintain current gas prices for household users in an effort to shield them from further financial strain. However, fixed charges in the domestic sector will be revised upward to help recover asset costs.

According to sources, the summary—submitted by the Petroleum Division for the fiscal year 2025–26—proposes significant increases in fixed charges. Consumers who were previously paying Rs. 400 will now pay Rs. 600. Those with a fixed charge of Rs. 1,000 will see it rise to Rs. 1,500, while those paying Rs. 2,000 will now be charged Rs. 3,000.
This adjustment in fixed gas charges is set to come into effect from July 1, subject to final approval by the federal cabinet.
