Hyderabad experienced relentless downpours over the past 24 hours, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reporting unprecedented levels of rainfall across multiple localities. Latifabad topped the charts with 280 millimeters of rain, followed by City Taluka at 268 millimeters, Qasimabad with 185 millimeters, and Rural Taluka recording 158 millimeters.

The torrential rains triggered deadly incidents as floodwaters swept away both a rickshaw and a car into the Thado stream. Tragically, one woman drowned, while another woman and the vehicle’s driver remained trapped in the submerged car. Police confirmed that rising water levels in the Konkar stream have hampered rescue efforts, with teams still attempting to recover the vehicles.

Latifabad, the hardest-hit area, witnessed widespread flooding that paralyzed daily life.

Karachi also bore the brunt of the heavy rainfall, with several major roads submerged, including M.A. Jinnah Road, Guru Mandir, Golimar, Rizvia, Board Office, KDA, Nagan Chowrangi, and Karelia Stop. The waterlogging created severe hurdles for both residents and commuters.

In addition, Lassi Goth, Sukhia Goth, and surrounding areas faced emergencies as floodwaters entered homes, compounding residents’ struggles. Police further confirmed that the pressure of gushing rainwater caused the collapse of two factory walls.
