Microsoft has announced that the new Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps in the Urdu language for Android phones will be available in May this year.
These apps join Microsoft’s previously released Office apps for Android phones to complete the Office experience for Urdu-speaking Android users. This is the first time Microsoft has released Office for Android in Urdu.
Microsoft Office for Android is currently available in 43 different languages with the addition of Urdu bringing the number up to 44.
According to Kamran Masood Niazi, Communications Manager, MEA from Microsoft, “We are committed to empowering people all over the world to do and achieve more by bringing top quality experiences to our customers across all devices and platforms.”
He adds that in today’s workplace, effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork are vital to succeeding in the modern economy. A key part of this is the ability work remotely thanks to advancements in cloud and mobile technology.
Microsoft’s Office apps are built for mobile and the cloud. With the rollout of Office in Urdu for Android, businesses and people across the region will now have access to key Microsoft tools that are built to streamline productivity and improve collaboration.
The roll out of Office in the Urdu Language for Android phones will have the same robust capabilities and familiar look and feel of Office while offering users a fantastic touch experience built specifically for Android devices.

Office apps in the Urdu Language will be free to download for everyone. Logging in with a free Microsoft account gives customers access to the ‘core experience’ which includes creating and light editing. To access premium features, customers must have a qualifying Office 365 subscription.
