On Thursday, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced a fuel charges adjustment (FCA) leading to a Rs. 4.12 per unit hike in electricity prices for ex-Wapda distribution companies (DISCOs). This increase will be itemized separately on consumers’ bills, reflecting the units consumed in November 2023. DISCOs will incorporate the fuel charges adjustment related to November 2023 in the billing cycle of January 2024. The augmented rates will apply to all consumer categories, excluding Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) and lifeline consumers.
