In response to a series of unfortunate incidents related to kite-flying across several cities, the Islamabad administration has implemented Section 144 to prohibit kite-flying within the federal capital’s jurisdiction.
A spokesperson for the federal police revealed that 24 cases have been filed against individuals engaged in kite-flying, resulting in the arrest of 56 individuals. The spokesperson also issued a stern warning against the use of metallic cord and chemical string for kite-flying, emphasizing the imposition of strict penalties for violators.

The crackdown on kite-flying gained momentum following the tragic demise of 22-year-old Asif in Faisalabad. Asif lost his life due to severe blood loss resulting from his throat being slit by a kite string while he was riding a motorcycle.
Responding to directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, law enforcement authorities apprehended the prime suspect, Abid, along with his accomplices. According to police sources, Abid and his associates were flying kites from the rooftops of tall buildings.
Officials disclosed that various technical means were employed to track down the suspects. Additionally, burnt kite-flying equipment was recovered from the possession of the culprits on the rooftop.
