In a deeply troubling incident in Sialkot, violent clashes erupted after a mob attempted to demolish the Baitul Zikr, a place of worship belonging to the Ahmadiyya community. The confrontation led to the filing of blasphemy and terror-related charges against several individuals.
According to the FIR registered at Motra Police Station, officers on routine duty encountered a large crowd armed with hammers, sticks, and iron rods. The mob was allegedly targeting the Ahmadiyya site despite repeated warnings from the police to disperse. The situation escalated when reinforcements arrived, as protesters began throwing stones and opening fire at law enforcement, damaging multiple vehicles — including the official van of the SP Investigation Sialkot.

Three police officers — Ehtesham Ali, Muhammad Owais, and Tariq Mahmood — sustained injuries during the attack and were taken to a nearby hospital. Authorities recovered three pistols and live ammunition from the scene.
Sialkot police have registered charges under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code — including 324, 353, 440, 148, 149, 295, 295A, and 153A — along with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). So far, 51 individuals have been arrested, with 42 identified by name among the 142 suspects.
Preliminary findings indicate that the assault was premeditated, with evidence of online calls to protest and video footage circulating on social media in the days leading up to the incident.
The attack has reignited national concern over rising religious intolerance and the safety of minority communities in Pakistan. Authorities confirmed that further arrests are expected as investigations continue.
