The new ChatGPT Financial Advice feature from OpenAI is designed to help users manage money smarter by securely connecting their bank accounts directly to ChatGPT. The AI-powered system offers personalized financial insights, spending analysis, investment tracking, and budgeting assistance through simple conversational prompts.

OpenAI has rolled out the feature for ChatGPT Pro users in the United States through a partnership with Plaid, a major financial connectivity platform that supports thousands of banking institutions worldwide. Supported services include Chase, Fidelity, Robinhood, Capital One, Schwab, and American Express.

After linking accounts, users can access a personalized financial dashboard within ChatGPT to monitor subscriptions, balances, transactions, bills, investments, and overall spending habits. Users can also ask questions such as how to reduce monthly expenses, improve savings goals, or identify unusual spending activity.

According to OpenAI, millions of users already use ChatGPT for finance-related discussions every month. The company says GPT-5.5’s enhanced reasoning capabilities allow the assistant to provide more accurate and contextual financial guidance compared to traditional budgeting apps.

The feature can be accessed through the new “Finances” tab inside ChatGPT or by typing commands like “@Finances, connect my accounts.” OpenAI says the system cannot move money or access full account details, and users can remove synced data at any time.

The company also plans to expand the platform further with additional financial tools and integrations, potentially including tax management and credit-related insights in future updates.
