The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is gearing up to implement stricter measures against individuals who have not filed their taxes. Netmag sources indicate that in the initial phase, the FBR plans to block mobile SIM cards and phones belonging to non-filers. The Income Tax General order pertaining to this move is expected to be issued by January 15.

Additionally, the FBR is formulating a plan to disconnect electricity for non-filers, although challenges may arise due to incomplete data on their electricity connections and potential legal issues.

It is noteworthy that the FBR achieved a historic milestone by collecting Rs. 1,021 billion in a single month, specifically in December 2023. The official statement from the FBR highlights that not only were the targets for the month exceeded but also those for the first six months of the current financial year.
