The FIA Raid Assault controversy has erupted across Pakistan after CCTV footage allegedly showed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officers assaulting shopkeepers during a raid at a jewelry store in Karachi’s Saddar Sarafa Bazaar. The viral videos quickly sparked public outrage and protests from the trader community.
According to initial reports, the FIA team carried out the operation as part of an investigation related to alleged silver smuggling. Witnesses and traders claimed that several officials entered the premises without presenting a proper warrant or legal authorization before the raid began.
The footage circulating on social media appears to show aggressive behavior and physical confrontation involving FIA personnel and shopkeepers, intensifying criticism against the agency. Traders accused the officials of abusing power and demanded immediate disciplinary action against those involved.

As pressure mounted, FIA Director General Dr. Usman Anwar ordered a formal inquiry into the incident. The investigation is expected to determine whether the officers violated operational procedures or used unlawful force during the raid.
Earlier statements from the FIA suggested that some of the viral footage was misleading or manipulated. However, continued backlash and growing protests reportedly pushed authorities to initiate an internal review.
The incident has once again raised concerns regarding accountability, law enforcement conduct, and the treatment of business communities during investigative operations in Pakistan. Trader associations in Karachi have warned of further protests if strict action is not taken following the inquiry findings.
