The interim federal government has recently announced a marginal decrease in the price of petrol, while maintaining the existing price for high-speed diesel. The cost of petrol will see a reduction of Rs. 8 per liter, bringing the new price to Rs. 259.34. In contrast, the price of high-speed diesel will remain steady at Rs. 276.21 per liter.

The fluctuation in fuel prices in the country is primarily influenced by global oil prices and the prevailing exchange rate. Notably, a significant factor contributing to the current pricing structure is the petroleum development levy.

Presently, the government imposes a levy of Rs. 60 on each liter of both petrol and high-speed diesel.
